Surviving in the middle
This is the most beautiful animation short film I’ve seen. Probably ever. And I realize that sounds hyperbolic. But yes, hyperbole counts too. There are no words spoken in this short about a plane crash survivor and his loyal dog, but the camera work, the dreamy animation style, the way the focus thrusts you in the middle of the happenings…all conspire to make a very beautiful inquiry into the nature of survival. What is survival? Hoping to be rescued any moment from now, or rescuing hope in the moment that is now? See if you can tell.
Watch.
[And to think that a 17 year old did this gives me hope]
